2005 Mengku Zheng Arbor Old Tree Pu-Erh Tea Cake, (Raw/Sheng)
This raw Pu-erh was made in 2005 from old arbor trees in Lincang's renowned Mengku Da Xue Shan. After more than two decades of clean, dry storage, it brews into a clear golden-amber liquor with a rich, silky mouthfeel. The flavor unfolds in layers of ripe fruit, aged wood, gentle earthiness, and delicate honey notes.
A touch of bitterness quickly transforms into a lasting huigan (returning sweetness), while the low astringency, steady cha qi, and long, refreshing finish create an elegant and deeply satisfying cup.
About the Mengku Region
Located in Shuangjiang County, Yunnan’s Lincang Prefecture, the Mengku tea region is a leading Pu-erh producer. Situated along the Nanmeng River and framed by Bangma and Ma’an mountains, it is known for ancient Mengku Big Leaf tea trees, with 80% of its gardens over 120 years old. Growing at 1,800–2,750 meters in fertile soil with ample sunshine, these trees yield robust, polyphenol-rich leaves. The region’s 18 villages, divided by the river, produce distinct teas: bold and aromatic from the east, mellow and sweet from the west. Spanning over 2,092 acres, Mengku’s diverse tea plantations are a global tea heritage treasure.
