This tea was made from the 2021 winter harvest; while the colder season usually means a smaller yield, we managed to secure a limited quantity of this wonderful product for our customers. The buds and top leaves were hand-picked, slightly oxidized and rolled into tight balls, before they underwent multiple rounds of charcoal roasting. This roasting process not only added beautiful aroma, it also made this tea a great candidate for long-term aging.

Opening the package, the roasted charcoal smell is very present but the l eaves are still slightly green with yellow stems. When brewed, the aroma of toasted barley fills the room. The tea is smooth and well-balanced with no bitterness. The taste is earthy and nutty, and reminds one of the forest floor with mushrooms and a tad of mineral salt. This is the perfect tea for a breezy day or an after-dinner treat, bring warmth and calmness.
